Maintenance Electrician Starting Date: Immediately

Job Description PRIMARY PURPOSE: Maintain buildings and equipment for the district. Work involves repairing electrical equipment, identifying, diagnosing, and repairing malfunctions in all areas of electrical equipment and systems. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in contact with the public, school officials, supervisors, and co-workers.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent

Clear and valid Texas driver’s license

Valid Texas Journeyman or Master Electrician License required

Special Knowledge / Skills Organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position

Ability to maintain simple logs and records, as well as to generate reports

Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring

Knowledge of current electrical codes and ordinances

Follow written and verbal instructions

Perform mathematical calculations

Diagnose and resolve problems

Demonstrate general knowledge associated with the craft and ability to operate hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner

Ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape

Ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color

Perform basic computer tasks

Work Conditions Tools/Equipment Used: Electrical measuring and testing equipment; hand tools; power tools; conduit benders; light truck or van

Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions

Motion: Frequent walking, digging, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving

Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, up to 10 pounds constantly to repair and/or move equipment and objects; carry tools and ladders throughout the day to, from, and within job locations
